Emily knew it was our first audit and she was willing to answer all the questions we had. She also took extra time making sure we understood what each request meant.
Emily’s strengths are in accounting for equity instruments and stock compensation expense, inventory valuation, and project management with both SOX and financial statement audits. She excels in pinpointing the root of audit issues, providing clients with a clear path to fix the issue, and helping them understand the underlying guidance that makes future audits more efficient. Emily grew up in South Florida but decided to move to Austin after falling in love with the trails, surrounding parks and springs, and the views at Lake Travis.
WHAT CAN’T YOU STOP TALKING ABOUT?
Food. I love watching and learning about anything food-related and sharing weird food facts with anybody that will listen.
WHAT’S SOMETHING ABOUT YOU THAT MOST PEOPLE MIGHT NOT KNOW?
I taught myself how to do gymnastics on the trampoline when I was a kid
My passion in high school and through college was writing. I wrote articles for the school newspaper and worked towards a major in journalism until the end of Sophomore year when my advisor convinced me to switch to Finance as I had always taken and excelled in advanced math courses.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SEASON?
I imagine that most people choose Fall because the weather is amazing in Austin during Fall. While this is definitely true, I’m choosing Fall because Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite holiday.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO IN AUSTIN?
Go for a bike ride to the springs and go swimming or a night out to a fancy cocktail bar (Here Nor There is my favorite).
WHERE DID YOU GROW UP AND WHY AREN’T YOU THERE NOW?
I grew up and lived in South Florida until I was 25, but decided to move to Austin after only coming to visit for a weekend trip and falling in love with the trails, surrounding parks and springs, and the views at Lake Travis. Now I can’t imagine ever leaving.
