With over 15 years of experience focused on financial statement audits, Rusty excels at serving a wide range of companies across a variety of industries including technology, services, manufacturing and consumer products. His areas of focus include revenue recognition, debt and equity financing arrangements, business acquisitions, consolidations and stock-based compensation.
Rusty is known for his responsive client service and his technical accounting expertise. He is great at providing timely answers to complex questions, and believes that proactive planning and regular communication are the keys to a positive client experience.
Prior to joining Holtzman Partners in 2017, Rusty spent two years at Arthur Andersen, eight years at Grant Thornton and, most recently, six years at Montgomery Coscia Greilich, working primarily with small and mid-market companies.
Rusty earned a B.S. and an M.A. in accounting from Oklahoma State University before becoming a CPA in 2003. He is licensed in the state of Texas and is a member of the AICPA.
Outside of the firm, Rusty is involved with the Festival Beach Community Garden, a project of the Sustainable Food Center, which cultivates a healthy community by strengthening the local food system and improving access to nutritious, affordable foods in East Austin.
Rusty enjoys cooking, reading, golf and discovering unique Austin restaurants.
What’s something many people don’t know about you?
I was a university adjunct professor for many years, teaching various accounting courses to graduate and undergraduate students at UT system branch campuses.
