As a member of our audit and advisory group, Brian works with clients on financial statement audits and reviews, SOX controls testing, employee benefit plan audits, advisory engagements, including agreed-upon procedures and research engagements. He has served clients in a variety of industries – including technology, manufacturing, e-commerce, and professional services – ranging from start-ups to publicly-traded companies. His areas of expertise include revenue recognition, inventory, and equity. Brian has experience in the industry and recognizes accounting is not black-and-white – many issues have solutions somewhere “in the grey” that comply with US GAAP and make sense operationally, and he enjoys working with clients to find those solutions. He began his accounting career at Holtzman Partners in 2013 after earning a bachelor’s in business administration in marketing and a master’s degree in accounting, both from the University of Texas at Austin. Brian is a licensed CPA in Texas and is also a Certified Internal Auditor.
What’s your favorite way to spend a weekend or an afternoon?
Our ideal weekend is pretty simple: breakfast tacos and coffee, doing something physically active, and appreciation of some form of art – usually music or movies.
What’s something about you that most people might not know?
I picked up guitar nearly 20 years ago. My family always had a heavy rotation of classic rock and oldies, but Marty McFly playing Johnny B. Goode in Back to the Future is where it really started for me. I began playing in the youth band at my church and have continued to play on Sunday mornings there through the years.
What’s your favorite family tradition?
There are several traditions I married into that I really enjoy. Even though we don’t get to go every year, I think my favorite is camping along the beach at the San Diego Bay for the 4th of July.
