With a resume that ranges from teaching English in South Korea to over 15 years of experience in HR, working in a variety of industries, Mya is a multi-faceted HR leader who always maintains a “people-first” mindset. Mya is a graduate of Texas Southern University and holds her professional HR certification with SHRM. Mya serves as co-vice president on the board for AHRMA (Austin SHRM affiliate). In 2018, Mya joined Holtzman Partners, leading the HR function which oversees the firm’s Total Rewards Program, employee engagement initiatives, training and development, recruitment, workforce planning and compliance. Mya has a passion for developing others and initiatives centered around employee growth. Her mantra is, “A good leader sees your potential and makes a real effort to develop it.” In her spare time when she isn’t working, Mya can be found with family and friends, training for her next 10k, or just simply at home reading and watching movies.
What’s something many people don’t know about you?
I taught English overseas in South Korea for almost two years and I LOVE history.
What’s your favorite thing to do in Austin?
Head downtown with our puppy for lunch or ice cream and watch the sunset
What would be impossible for you to give up?
Several things come to mind…time with family, a daily exercise regimen and cheese or chocolate.
What’s your favorite family tradition?
A favorite family tradition would be “family brunch” that’s held every 4th Sunday at Mom’s.
Where is your favorite place to travel to or visit?
My favorite place to travel in the U.S. would have to be San Francisco and my favorite place to travel outside of the U.S. would be South Korea.
