Bio

Patrick began his career in 2005 at KPMG in Dallas, Texas, where he focused on financial statement audits. Prior to joining Armanino, he served as a Partner at Holtzman Partners, specializing in financial statement audits of privately held businesses and of employee benefit plans. Patrick's prior experience includes roles as an auditor at BKD (now FORVIS) and as a consultant for an employee benefit plan administrator.

Patrick possesses a unique talent for swiftly grasping intricate issues and translating them into clear, actionable insights. His ability to respond to complex matters with straightforward conclusions empowers clients to make informed decisions with confidence. Patrick is dedicated to supporting clients by ensuring that their decisions align with technical accounting guidance and by identifying and sharing best practices.

Originally from Lexington, Massachusetts, Patrick has lived in Austin since 2012 and has considered Texas home for over 25 years. Beyond the office, Patrick's world revolves around his wife and three kids. Family time takes precedence, whether they're enjoying the great outdoors through camping adventures, rallying behind the Red Sox, or driving the kids across town to their numerous extracurricular activities.

Q&A

To speak generally, working with all our clients is fun. Whether my clients are self-sustaining from operations or in the start-up or early-stages, they are often responding to new challenges facing their business. I enjoy helping them navigate complexities, such as financing events that run the gamut of how they are structured between debt and equity. As auditors, we have to pay close attention to the different provisions and nuances of each transaction and truly helps me grow and sharpen my skills.

My work seems to feel like an unfinished puzzle at times. Even if I have part of the solution, my brain is always trying to determine the rest of it. Working to figure out how to twist that last puzzle piece and get everything where it needs to be captivates my mind long after I’m clocked out for the day.

I work focused on each client’s goal in mind to ensure our clients get the outcomes that meet their needs and expectations. I ensure my team understands their goals, timelines and the requirements to meet and exceed expectations. As a team, we collaboratively work through making sure we are on track to ensure those goals are met at the end of this project. My job is to make sure my team has the tools and skills to carry out this agenda efficiently.

My mom is easily the most influential person in my life. I grew up in a single-parent household, and my mom managed to start her own business as a bookkeeper. She kept my siblings and me fed and helped us get through college. I’m still in shock at all that that she was able to accomplish in 24 hours. She eventually grew and sold the business, which allowed her to retire as a direct result. She has been the blueprint for me in my professional career.

Life is what happens when you are busy making plans. Many of us end up where we are when preparation meets opportunity. Those things cannot be planned, so don’t focus on the linear progression of advancement but on doing the right things in the short term and letting successes build.

I love not knowing what the next day will bring despite what is noted on my calendar and personal schedule. It keeps things new and exciting. There is no such thing as standing still in this profession because something is always happening with our clients and we must rise to meet the challenges of the day ahead.
