AUSTIN – November 17, 2020 – Holtzman Partners, a leading certified public accounting firm, has expanded its leadership team with the promotion of Patrick Carvey, Audit Partner; Jillian Bergman, Audit & Advisory Director; and Shirley Ma, Tax Director, effective January 1, 2021.

In their new roles, Patrick, Jillian, and Shirley will focus on strengthening Holtzman’s position as a leader in the Audit and Tax market.
Patrick Carvey – Audit Partner
Carvey has over 10 years of public accounting experience and began his career at KPMG Dallas. He specializes in financial statement audits, employee benefit plan audits, merger & acquisition due diligence, and SOX compliance projects. He has experience in a variety of industries, including technology and healthcare. Before joining Holtzman, he worked as an auditor at BKD in Waco and as a retirement plan consultant for a third-party administrator of employee benefit plans. Carvey is a CPA in the state of Texas and earned a bachelor’s and master’s in accounting from Baylor University.
In his new role, Carvey will focus on strengthening Holtzman’s position in the employee benefit plan (EBP) audit market. In addition to leading the EBP practice, he will also use his experience serving companies in the technology and healthcare industries to lead financial statement audit engagements.

Jillian Bergman – Director, Audit & Advisory
Bergman has over 14 years of public accounting experience and began her career at Deloitte in Houston. She specializes in M&A due diligence projects and works on financial statement audits, software revenue recognition and purchase accounting consulting, and business SOX consulting. Bergman is a CPA in the state of Texas and earned her master’s in accountancy from Baylor University.
In her new role, Bergman will focus on leading and growing Holtzman’s M&A Due Diligence Advisory practice. She will also lead financial statement audit and SOX consulting engagements, focusing on the technology industry.

Shirley Ma – Director, Tax
Shirley Ma has over 14 years of corporate tax experience, including 7 years with a national leading CPA firm and 5 years with a large multinational corporate tax department. Shirley specializes in income tax provision, federal and state tax compliance, and tax planning. She has extensive experience in a variety of industries including software, technology, consumer products, manufacturing, medical devices, and semiconductors. Before becoming a CPA, Ma earned a B.S. in Finance from Peking University, China, and an M.A. in Accounting from Washington State University. She is a licensed CPA in the states of California and Texas.
In her new role, Ma will focus on leading and growing Holtzman’s Accounting for Income Taxes (ASC 740) practice. She will also help lead large corporate tax engagements as well as international compliance across multiple industries.
