Mike is one of the founding members of Holtzman Partners. As a lead partner in the audit and advisory practice, he works on various engagements including financial statement audit, Sarbanes Oxley compliance, merger & acquisition advisory and diligence, and internal audit.

Mike has over 19 years of experience in public accounting serving both public and private companies in technology, retail and consumer products, manufacturing and construction, and services. What Mike enjoys most about his work is helping businesses along the growth cycle from early stage to initial public offering and beyond.

Mike prides himself on providing proactive and consultative service to his clients, which include RetailMeNot, Upland Software, Spiceworks, Stratus Properties, Thermon Manufacturing Company, Vida Capital and Kendra Scott Design.

He began his career in 1995 at EY in Houston and later transferred to their Austin office. He spent 10 years in EY’s audit and advisory business practice before leaving the firm in 2004 to help form Holtzman Partners.

Mike earned a B.B.A. from Texas A&M University in both accounting and finance. He is a licensed CPA in Texas and Colorado, and he is a member of the AICPA.

Outside of the firm, Mike is involved in the community as the board treasurer for 787 Racing, a grassroots organization that strives to make recreational and competitive cycling as accessible as possible to cyclists of all abilities and all ages.

What’s something you know a lot about?
College football (particularly Texas A&M).

What is your favorite season?
Fall because of the great weather in Texas, college football and cyclocross season.

What is one thing on your bucket list?
Attend the Masters.

What is your favorite thing to do in Austin?
The restaurant scene, movies at the Alamo Drafthouse, and mountain biking at one of the many trail systems that Austin has to offer.

What would be impossible for you to give up?
Riding my bike.

Where did you grow up and why aren’t you there now?
Missouri City, Texas (just outside of Houston). Too much concrete for my liking.
